More and more people are discovering this — changing lifestyles, brands, and habits. That’s why everything is gearing towards “organic”. Organic has also found a place in Search Engine Optimization where websites are wielded to come up organically in the results. Although “organic” is just another term for unpaid search results in contrast to paid ads, a website can be designed in such a way as it ranks on top of the search results.
To start, you need to do keyword targeting and content optimization. Here’s how Click Newz put it:

If you are trying to rank for a keyword such as “dog food”, the most relevant link would be from a web page that already ranks in the top 100 search results for the term “dog food”. The second most relevant link would be from webpages that rank within the top 1,000 results for the term “dog food”.

The more links the search engine can access, the more visible your site will be to internet users (i.e., prospective customers) and the more opportunities your business will reach would-be clients. Your successful SEO campaign relies almost entirely on your link structure. Moz.com explains it in detail:
